Dan Reed Network Member Bios

As of 1993, the Dan Reed Network have no longer made music together as a band.  Check the FAQ for more info about the history of the Dan Reed Network.

Dan Reed. 

Born: February 17, 1963, in Portland, Oregon, USA.  Met Dan Pred while in high school in Aberdeen South Dakota.  Played trumpet in the 5th grade through 11th grade.  Studied music theory at Northern State College, South Dakota. Started playing guitar in 1979.  Moved back to Portland,  started Dan Reed Network in 1984. 

After a stint of acting including starring in "Zig Zag" (Check Amazon), he released a solo EP in 2003 called "Sharp Turn" online, and will be releasing an all-new solo album in February of 2008.

Dan Pred.

Born: November 19, 1963 in Aberdeen, South Dakota USA.  Met Dan Reed during high school.  Started on drums in the seventh grade and played in junior high school band. Played with Dan Reed since the ninth grade. Studied at the Percussion Institute Of Technology in Los Angeles.  Moved back to Portland with him to start the Dan Reed Network.

Dan Pred is now still living in Portland Oregon, and owns an Audio/Video production company.  He co-produced the "Live at Last" CD and video, and was of course the drummer in "Slowrush" (See Amrik's Seven Sisters Road website for more info about Slowrush).  He hasn't picked up a drumstick since 2001.  :(

Blake Sakamoto.

Born: August 22, 1961 in Portland, Oregon, USA.  Replaced Rick Digiallonardo on Keyboards in 1987.  First recording with Dan Reed Network was on the self titled (Blue & Grey) album in 1987.

Blake is currently involved in MANY projects in the Portland, Oregon USA area.

Blake is also living in Portland Oregon. Blake co-produced the Dan Reed Network, "Live at Last" CD and video and is involved with several projects as a producer. 

Brion James.

Born: July 17, 1955 in Brooklyn, NY, USA.  Attended the University Of Washington and the Cornish Institute. Played in several Top 40 bands until meeting Dan Reed in 1984.

Brion was performing alongside Melvin Brannon II in Edgar Winter's live performances, and is a songwriter.

Melvin Brannon II

Born on July 6 (Year unknown!) in Seattle, WA, USA.  Studied music at Mt. Hood Community College. Played in various bands, including Top 40, jazz-fusion, blues and rock before playing with Dan Reed.

Melvin was in Europe  on tour with Stevie Salas. He has been doing lots of session work and club gigs in the Los Angeles area.  In 2000, he joined Edgar Winter's band, and went on tour with them in 2001.
